Eye and Vision Exam

Annual eye and vision examinations are an important part of preventative health care. Many eye and vision problems have no obvious signs or symptoms. As a result, individuals are often unaware that problems exist. Early diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision problems are important for maintaining good vision and eye health, and when possible, preventing vision loss.

Comprehensive Eye Examinations

A comprehensive eye exam consists of much more than just a refraction (obtaining your spectacle prescription). We also check your eye muscle movements, pupillary reactions, eye curvature measurements, peripheral vision testing, glaucoma testing, external and internal evaluation of your eye health.

Contact Lens Exam

Along with all aspects of a comprehensive eye exam, we will also fit you with a contact lens based on the curvature and size of your eyes and we select a lens material that is most suited for each individual patient. We will include a contact lens training if you are a new wearer and all necessary follow up visits. We fit standard spherical contact lenses and also more complicated fits for astigmatism, presbyopia and rigid gas permeable lenses.

Pediatric Eye Exams

Every child should have an eye exam BEFORE starting school. Knowledge of the alphabet by the child is not necessary for us to evaluate their eye health and vision. We have several methods of examining a child who does not respond well to traditional eye examination techniques. It is estimated up to 80% of classroom learning for children is through vision. That is why it is VITAL to make sure your child is set up for success by having a pediatric eye exam annually.

Medical Eye Exams

Our optometrists are trained and licensed to diagnose and treat diseases of the eye. We prescribe topical and oral medications for infections, eye inflammatory conditions, dry eyes, glaucoma and allergies. We are also trained to remove corneal foreign bodies, such as metal debris trapped on the surface of the eye while welding or cutting metal. We also work with top specialists in the area to make surgical referrals when necessary.

Retinal Photography

The saying, a picture is worth a thousand words, certainly holds true when it comes to retinal eye conditions. That is why our office has invested in state-of-the-art Daytona Optomap retinal camera that allows our doctors to see 85% of the back of your eye through an undilated pupil.

Meet Our New Additions
Oct & Optomap

What Is An Oct?

OCT is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves to illustrate the different layers that make up the back of the eye. The major benefit of this state of the art machine is that it allows our optometrists to see both the back of your eye and a three-dimensional image to look beneath the surface of the retina. Comparison of past and present OCT scans allows for monitoring of small changes over time. For this reason, OCT testing has proved to be a vital tool when evaluating such conditions as glaucoma and macular changes.

What Is An Optomap?

The optomap is a state of the art retinal camera that allows our doctors to view over 85% of your retina without dilating your eyes. Our doctors recommend an Optomap Retinal Photo taken at every comprehensive eye exam. Your Optomap photos are stored digitally so that our doctors can track changes in your retina over time. In some situations, the Optomap can even be used in place of dilating your eyes, allowing you to avoid side effects such as blurry vision and light sensitivity. Those patients needing a yearly dilated eye exam, specifically diabetics, still can benefit from having an Optomap Image because it gives a much more thorough examination of the eye.
